Day after 10/10/10

Morning all,
It’s a beautiful, unseasonably sunny October morning and I am feeling very happy after a great night at The Savoy. My debut as featured ‘chanteuse‘ was well received. The bar itself is a stunning space but it’s early days as far as it’s inception as a dedicated cabaret space is concerned. I was assigned a spot next to the piano cloaked in moody down lights and a decent mike to amplify although the domed ceiling gives a good natural acoustic. The inaugral patrons were all ages and nationalities and gave pleasing eye contact and even more pleasing applause. One lady, who seemed to have sampled most of what the bar had to offer, draped her arms around me after the first act and crooned ‘You’ve got a beautiful girl and you’ve got a beautiful voice’. A satisfied customer, that’s all we need to know. The management were happy too…’job done’ as they say. No sign of the illustrious Stephen Fry who has made history by being the hotel’s first guest. He must have got waylaid ‘Twittering‘ in his suite. It would have been so nice to have sung my ‘Me And My Girl‘ selection with him in the room. He wrote the revisions for the show when he was just out of Cambridge. I have no doubt that the bar will become a magnet for classy clientele and A list celebs in the near future. And so I savour the memory of a glamorous night in London as I get stuck into the to do’s of today. Can’t imagine Noel Coward ever having had to sort out the odd socks in the laundry! Hey ho…such is life. More from the housewife and cabaret diva later. x
