Einstein A Gogo

‘There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.’ A quote from Einstein which I found in my copy of Spirit And Destiny magazine which kept me happily occupied on the train back from Euston this morning.

I’d been into town for an audition. Can’t tell you what for because then I’d have to kill you. We showbiz folk are fiercely superstitious, constantly warding off the demons of ill-wishers and gods who might be jealous of your charms. Anyway, at the audition for…I met another actress up for the same part as me. A lovely girl called Kim Ismay who I’d met at a job years ago. So we talked and she said she’d been singing at a funeral yesterday. Turns out it was Claire Rayner‘s funeral. She had to sing ‘Just One Of Those Things‘ which was a favourite of hers and Des’s. Apparently Kim was great friends with one of Claire’s daughters and practically adopted her as well. How does all this tie in with my metaphysical bon mot at the start of this blog? Well it’s just one of those days…a beautiful crisp, sunny autumn day..you kind of feel in touch with the inner workings of life as the trees are divesting themselves of last year’s wardrobe. This actress and I are sharing anecdotes about a lady who has just shuffled off her mortal coil and is already immortalised by the fact we are remembering her. The show I was auditioning for is a revival of a film classic. There you are. Life is full of wonder and the world is ever renewing itself. Anyone else in reflective mood? Do share.
