Winter Wonderland

Greetings blogees,
Snowed in as I am, I’ve sought to make a virtue of the ‘weather crisis’ by catching up with my blog. I am, shall we say, ‘tobloggoning’.
First off… we finished our run of ‘All I Want For Christmas‘ on Saturday. For the first time in my long and sometimes distinguished career, I failed to make it in time for the matinee.
Spamalot
The blizzards that beset us this week caused mayhem travelwise. It’s all too tedious and everyone has their own tale of the day Britain froze to a standstill. I had a six hour journey involving trains, buses and tubes. But our stage manager Alice saved the day by going on in my stead. So the matinee audience were treated to the theatrical treat of a spontaneous happening.
I was there for my final performance as ‘uberhousewife’ Jean and we all bade each other fond farewells after a most enjoyable run down at Jermyn Street.
And now I can reveal my good news which I’ve been keeping stum about until it was all agreed. I had it confirmed this week that I am to play ‘Lady of the Lake‘ in the 2011 tour of ‘Spamalot‘ alongside Phill Jupitus as King Arthur. The wonderful Christopher Luscombe is directing and I can hardly wait to don my medieval sleeves and Godiva locks to belt out this fantastic role.
Some schoolchums of mine came to see AIWFC on Friday and were thrilled to hear I’m in Spamalot. Many years ago they all came to see me play Cinderella in my first pantomime at the DeMontfort Hall in Leicester. Incidentally, the late, great Peggy Mount was Fairy Godmother and used to put my hair in rollers for me every night. She was a Fairy Godmother in every sense. Well Spamalot is coming to the DeMontfort Hall and all my pals will be in attendance. Ah… the circle of life. I am sharing the role with Jodie Prenger so it will be alternate weeks. Even more ideal with my family commitments. So please come see.
And finally… I played the last of my Savoy gigs for this year with Jason Carr. It went beautifully and Johnnie Lyne-Pirkis came along with some chums before he heads off to L.A for a big tv series.
So have yourselves a merry little Christmas and I shall be blogging like crazy when rehearsals start for Spamalot in January.
Lots of love xxx
